If you're sick of being sick--of sneezing, coughing and rubbing itchy eyes--it may be time to get tested for allergies.
Here are the most common tests:
Skin test
A small amount of a suspected allergen is placed on or below the skin to see if a reaction develops.
Blood test
The most common blood test used to diagnose allergies is the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA, EIA). It measures antibodies made by the body in response to certain allergens. Blood tests are generally considered to be not as sensitive as skin tests.
