INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Air Force assistant coach Allen Johnson will serve as a member of the Team USA coaching staff this weekend at the 2014 IAAF World Indoor Championships. In his third season with the Falcons' track and field program, Johnson will coach the men's sprinters and hurdlers at Ergo Arena in Sopot, Poland
While this is his first stint as a Team USA coach, Johnson is no stranger to the World Indoor Championships, having collected three gold medals (1995, 2003, 2004) and one silver medal (2008) in the 60-meter hurdles as a Team USA competitor.
"The entire team and staff are so proud of Coach Johnson," Air Force head track and field coach Ralph Lindeman said. "From competing for Team USA to serving as a coach just six years later ... he's come full circle."
Johnson is joined on the Team USA men's staff by head coach Nat Page (jumps), assistant coach Rob Lasora (throws), assistant coach Teddy Mitchell (distances) and manager Tim Weaver. Since 1985, Team USA has accounted for 219 medals at the IAAF World Indoor Track and Field Championships, including 93 gold medals.
The 2014 IAAF World Indoor Track and Field Championships begin on Friday (March 7).
