All evacuees allowed to go home in Monument

All of the evacuees from a chemical leak in Monument have been allowed to return home. The evacuation order was lifted for the last 12 homes as of 10:00 p.m. People in 243 other homes were allowed to return earlier in the evening.

The evacuations were ordered early Wednesday morning after a leak was discovered coming from a train car. About 75 gallons of hydrochloric acid spilled from the tanker.

Crews are continuing to remove the chemical from the tanker and move it to another tanker to be hauled away.

We'll update you here as we get it.
