Al Gore under investigation in Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Police in Portland, Ore., aren't saying why they've reopened an investigation into sex allegations against Al Gore, but the former vice president's spokeswoman says he welcomes the decision.

The spokeswoman say "further investigation" of the case "will only benefit Mr. Gore." A massage therapist has alleged that Gore made unwanted sexual advances during a massage appointment in October 2006 at a downtown Portland hotel. According to transcripts of a 2009 interview with detectives, the masseuse claims Gore groped and kissed her, and pinned her down on a bed. In an effort to get him to come to his senses, she says she told Gore he was acting like a "crazed sex poodle."

The National Enquirer first reported the allegations a week ago. A spokeswoman says Gore "unequivocally and emphatically" denies making unwanted sexual advances.
