PUEBLO, Colo. (AP) - Akron senior Brady Baer is Colorado's new high school basketball scoring leader.
Baer broke the state record for career points in high school when he scored 40 points in Akron's 81-64 win Thursday over Meeker in the Colorado Class 2A tournament quarterfinal game in Pueblo.
Baer has scored 2,562 points in his prep career.
The Denver Post reports that he broke the previous record of 2,551 set by Brian Wood of Buena Vista from 1997-2001.
Baer had 442 points as a freshman, 579 as a sophomore, 758 as a junior and 748 as a senior going into the state tournament.
Akron plays in the 2A tournament semifinals on Friday.
