DURANGO, Colorado (AP) - Air tankers were enlisted Thursday to fight two wildfires in southwest Colorado.
The U.S. Forest Service says that two heavy air tankers from Albuquerque, N.M., dropped retardant on the Vallecito Fire. That blaze has not forced any evacuations, though 35 to 40 homes in Montezuma County have gotten pre-evacuation orders.
Also, two single-engine air tankers ordered from Fort Collins started work Thursday battling the Little East Fire.
