Last Time Out...
The Falcons opened its Western Wrestling Conference slate last weekend, dropping a pair of road contests to No. 23 North Dakota State (41-6) and South Dakota State (18-14).
Senior Josh Kreimier was the lone Air Force victor against the Bison, pinning his opponent at 157 pounds. Scouting the Falcons...
Air Force, which holds an 8-5 dual mark on the season, is tied for 22nd in the latest InterMat poll. Leading the way for the Falcons is sophomore Josh Martinez, currently ranked fourth in the nation at 125 pounds with a 25-2 overall record.
Air Force sophomore Josh Martinez is rated in the initial coaches' panel rankings for the 2013-14 wrestling season, ranking fifth at 125 pounds. The final rankings will be one of the tools used as part of the selection process to determine the qualifiers for the 2014 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships.
Wrestlers in each weight class will be measured by winning percentage, rating percentage index (RPI) and coaches' rankings to earn spots for the 2014 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. The coaches' rankings are compiled by a vote of coaches representing each qualifying tournament. For ranking purposes, coaches may only consider a wrestler that has been designated as a starter at a respective weight class. In order to be eligible for the rankings, wrestlers must have participated in at least five matches against Division I opponents and have wrestled within the last 30 days.
In the National Rankings...
The Falcons have a pair of wrestlers who are currently ranked by various wrestling publications. Sophomore Josh Martinez is currently ranked fourth at 125 pounds by InterMat, Amateur Wrestling News, W.I.N. Magazine, WrestlingReport.com and DI College Wrestling. Meanwhile, senior Josh Kreimier is rated 19th in the nation at 157 pounds by W.I.N. Magazine.
The Falcons take off a week from competition before returning home to host conference foe Wyoming on Tuesday, Feb. 11, at 7:00 p.m.
