AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AP) - An Air Force Academy major has been convicted by a court martial panel on charges of drunken driving and making a false statement, but he won't serve any jail time.
Maj. Dennis Nita's pay will be docked $2,000 per month for 12 months and he'll be restricted to home and work for two months.
According to the Colorado Springs Gazette, prosecutors argued that Nita was drunk March 21 when he crashed his pickup truck on campus.
Nita faced up to five years behind bars for an alleged falsehood and six month for the driving incident. Nita told investigators he only had a few beers.
