In college hockey, The University of British Columbia scored two goals early in the second period and then added two empty-netters for a 4-2 win over Air Force.
Playing at the Academy's Cadet Ice Arena, the Falcons outshot BC, 31-26. AFA was 1-for-6 on the power play while BC was 0-for-4. Thunderbirds starting goalie Jordan White made 20 saves in 30 minutes while not allowing a goal. Kray Barnstable came on to play the final 30 minutes and gave up two goals while making nine saves.
Air Force opens the regular season at the Kendall Classic in Anchorage, Alaska, Oct.12-13.
