COCOA, Fla. - An 18-year-old Cocoa High School student says he was suspended for posing in gay pornography -- a job he holds to support his mother, he says.
According to school officials, Robert Marucci will be allowed back in school Wednesday, and administrators deny the suspension last week was over porn.
"When campus monitors, when deans hear things that are of concern, we err on the side of caution and make sure that we take everything seriously," said Michelle Irwin, public information officer for Brevard County Schools. "This has nothing to do with his job. The time off of school had nothing to do with his career he has chosen. It really had to do with statements that were overheard."
Officials said there were allegations involving weapons. That's something Marucci denies.
He was suspended pending an investigation and now can return to school.
Support is growing for Marucci, and a Facebook page was created to support his cause. His friends say he was bullied and students were sharing his pictures.
"He should be at school because personally, I think the bullies should be expelled," said Marucci's friend, Cheyenne Carter.
Marucci did not return calls, emails, texts or Facebook messages on Tuesday.
