An Air Force Academy graduate is the latest U.S. military casualty in Iraq.
The Pentagon reports that 1st Lt. Joseph Helton, 24, from Monroe, Georgia,
died of wounds he suffered when enemy forces attacked his vehicle in Baghdad Tuesday.
He was assigned to the Sixth Security Forces Squadron out of MacDill Air Force Base, Florida.
“Joseph’s ultimate sacrifice is a tremendous loss to the United States Air Force Academy family. he touched the lives of many people – cadets, Airmen, friends and family – and he will have a lasting effect on them all,” said Lt. Gen. Mike Gould, Superintendent of the U.S. Air Force Academy.
Lt. Helton is the 11th AFA grad killed in the Iraq war.
