Monique Lynch, accused stuffing a little girl's lifeless body into the crawl space of a Monument home, will face a judge in Colorado Springs for the first time today.
Lynch waived her right to a video advisement last week. Today, she's expected to be formally charged with child abuse resulting in death. The judge is expected to set a date for her preliminary hearing.
Back in May, construction workers renovating a vacant rental home in Monument found Genesis Sims' body. She was nine-years-old when she was last seen. It took two months and DNA testing to identify the child's body.
Lynch was living with the little girl's father, Hanif Sims, when Genesis died. He faces the same charges as Lynch. Authorities launched a nationwide manhunt to find the pair. They were finally tracked to a motel room in Henderson, outside Las Vegas, Nevada. The couple arrived back in Colorado last week.
