A fast and violent storm swept through Colorado Springs causing a makeshift stock show on southbound I-25 near Bijou. "There was so much rain in such a short amount of time, the road was unable to drain all of the rain." explains Lt. John Akers with CSFD.
According to fire fighters the driver of a green sedan hydroplaned during the storm in front of a large horse trailer causing the driver to slam on her brakes. "The trailer jack knifed and the horses were thrown around." said Akers.
Two horses, one of them pregnant, were taken out of the trailer and onto the road, severely backing up traffic. Luckily nobody was hurt in the accident, including the horses. "One horse had a cut to the chest and the other horse is remarkably unhurt." Akers said. The Humane Society showed up later with a new trailer to safely transport the horses.
