WEATHER DISCUSSION: Warm high pressure building into Colorado from the west will provide a boost to our temperatures and warm us by at least 20 degrees for most of our area on this Wednesday. Wednesday's wake-up temperatures are pushing 30 degrees warmer than Tuesday morning's lows. As the high pressure builds eastward, it funnel a stiff breeze along the Front Range from north to south. High pressure also means a pocket of sinking air that will help to squash any clouds as they try to slide southward from Wyoming. The high pressure ridge will build eastward and hold temperatures up to near-or-slightly-warmer-than-seasonable levels through week's end. On Friday, the high pressure sits to our northwest and pushes some stable air over the Rocky Mountains. That will set up a warm downslope wind that could send temperatures up toward 60 in spots on Friday afternoon. This weekend, the high pressure passes north of us. A dome of cold air over the Great Plains will try to nose its way westward around the southern side of the high pressure cell and could drop our temperatures back from the 50's into the 40's along the Front Range. Temperatures in the higher elevations will drop into the 30's after the week ends in the 40's. That cold air will ease back out of Colorado this weekend, but high pressure passing to the north will set up an upslope wind flow that will help to increase cloud cover and cool temperatures into early next week. Clouds will likely be thicker over the higher elevations, and even though models do not yet suggest any preciptiation, this pattern can favor some snow in the higher elevations. For now, we do not expect any precipitation for our area in the next seven days.
