On Saturday afternoon, at approximately 4:40 pm, the Pueblo County Sheriff's Communications Center received a call on a possible shooting in the 800 block of Baxter Road, in eastern Pueblo County. When deputies arrived on scene they found that a 16 year-old male had died from a single gun shot wound to the chest.
Two juveniles were the only people at the home during the time of the shooting. The surviving juvenile was brought in for questioning by the deputies, and the weapon was taken into evidence.
The Pueblo County Sheriff's Investigations division is working in conjunction with the District Attorney's Office and the Pueblo County Coroner. The circumstances of the shooting are under investigation.
Charges are being referred to the District Attorney's Office on the juvenile for the following: Illegal Possession of a Handgun by a Juvenile, Class 2 misdemeanor.
The identities of either juvenile have not been released.
