A section of E. Platte Ave. closed today

Work on E. Platte was originally scheduled for Saturday, September 17, but was rescheduled for today, Sunday, September 18.
E. Platte is closed from Union Blvd. going eastbound and Handcock Ave. going westbound. Closure runs from 7 a.m. until 12 a.m., as crews are replacing storm drains in that area.
Construction day was rescheduled to avoid conflicting with the planned Firefighters Memorial.
Detours are in place and motorists should use alternate routes if possible.
Similar closures will happen the following two Saturdays, including Sept. 24 and Oct. 1, 2011.
The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of November 2011.
