A jury is selected and opening statements have begun

The 4th Judicial District has begun opening statements in the trial of George Peters on the charge of First Degree Murder and Child Abuse-Knowingly and Recklessly Causing Death. The case began in Feb 2010 when a child was taken to a local hospital's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit where the child later died as a result of injuries consistent with blunt head force trauma.
George Peters was identified as the lone suspect by the Colorado Springs Police, Crimes Against Children Unit. The jury selections began Tuesday, Sept 20th and the opening statements began Wednesday and are scheduled to continue through Friday.
