About 10 police cruisers were sent to make sure the Cesar Chavez school board meeting stayed peaceful on Friday. The Cesar Chavez school network board was deciding whether to fire the network's founder, Lawrence Hernandez.

Our NewsFirst 5 reporter, James Jarman, was at that meeting on Friday night. He reports that the Cesar Chavez school network board and Lawrence Hernandez all came to a compromise. Lawrence Hernandez will step down from the school network, but remain as the executive director of CCA, and Dolores Huerta Preparatory high school.

Also, in the future, no one will be fired with out the school board approval, and all administrative salaries will be reviewed. The board also promised a positive overhaul of the system.

There was a surprise move at the meeting when the network's chief financial officer handed in his resignation. The resignation won't be effective until after the state audit of the school is finished. Everyone is still waiting for the results of the state audit, there is no word yet on when that will be released.
