Early Sunday morning, close to 2 a.m., Colorado Springs Police officers responded to a large disturbance on the 6000 block of Powder Keg Pl.
Upon arrival officers observed a very large crowd involved in an active disturbance. As they approached, the crowd began to disperse on foot and in vehicles.
One of the vehicles intentionally swerved towards an officer, running over his foot and striking his hand causing minor injuries to both. The officer was treated and released from the hospital. Several other vehicles fled, all of which were later located.
The investigation revealed that a disturbance started over a theft of a computer which led to an assault. In all a total of three victims were transported to area hospitals, one of which is listed in critical condition.
A total of five arrests were made for assault, drug possession and outstanding warrants. Three vehicles were impounded during the investigation.
The investigation is continuing to determine if additional arrests will be made. Officers from the Falcon, Gold Hill, and Stetson Hills Divisions responded to assist with this call as the scene expanded to five different locations. Additionally, the Air Support Unit and two K9 officers were on scene to assist.
