What's coming out on DVD this week? Several films from this past summer, and a slew of classics.
Re-live the musical magic that made "My Fair Lady" one of Hollywood's all time classics. Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison star in this story of a cockney flower girl who undergoes training to pass as a proper Victorian lady. The film won 8 Academy Awards including best picture back in 1964. It's been digitally re-mastered for this re-release.
One of Disney's all time classics returns not only to DVD, but also to Blu-Ray. "Snow White" is back, along with the seven dwarfs in what was the first feature length animated film back in 1937. Lots of extras are included in what's being called the "Diamond Edition" of the film.
From this era, the life and loves of "Ally Mcbeal" make their way to DVD this week. The oddball mix of comedy and drama from producer David Kelley stars Calista Flockhart and "30 Rock"'s Jane Krakowski. The entire series is available as well as the first season in a separate collection. Bonus features include interviews and retrospectives on the show.
Jack Nicholson plays private eye Jake Gittes in the crime classic "Chinatown". What begins as an investigation of a simple case of adultery and murder spirals into a case with wide-ranging implications. This one's from director Roman Polanski. It brought a best screenplay Oscar to Robert Towne.
And from just this summer, the romantic comedy "MY LIFE IN RUINS", Eddie Murphy's "IMAGINE THAT" about a businessman saved from ruin by his daughter's imaginary world, AND "THE BROTHERS BLOOM", a tale of con men who begin to fall for their latest target.
