A Kentucky woman walked away from a nasty crash unharmed after a bird flew into her open car window Thursday evening.

The accident happened on I-75 in Madison County.

Police say the bird flew into the open window and got in the face of the driver. She lost control, flipped across a lane of northbound rush hour traffic and landed upside down in a grassy median.

An off-duty Georgetown detective and another Good Samaritan stopped before rescue crews got to the scene.

The driver had already gotten out of the car and was sitting beside it.

John Partin, Madison County rescue said, "It's just one of those freak accidents that nobody thinks will happen, but its proof here that it can," he said.

Partin says there really wasn't anything the woman could have done to prevent the accident, short of driving with her windows up and the A/C on.
