KEYSTONE, Colo. (AP) - July 4 is for fireworks - and skiing? Arapahoe Basin Ski Area says it will keep its lifts running for two more weekends, including July 1-4.
A snowy spring has allowed the ski resort west of Denver on the Continental Divide to stay open on weekends this month, and it had a 50-inch base as of Sunday morning. But resort managers wanted to see if enough people were still interested in skiing and snowboarding before committing to be open July 4.
On Saturday resort officials said A-Basin would be open June 24-26 and July 1-4.
Snowbird in Utah and Mammoth, Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley and Sugar Bowl in California also have said they will offer skiing on the July 4 weekend. Timberline in Oregon regularly offers summer skiing.
