Fort Carson honors the lives lost in the attacks of 9/11.
This morning they placed a wreath at the foot of a September 11 memorial.
The giant piece of steel came from Ground Zero and is a constant reminder of all that was lost that tragic day.
A Vietnam Veteran spoke and warned of the consequences of forgetting.
"And all you do when you forget is invite the enemy to remind us by a reoccurrence," said Dan Roever, a Vietnam Veteran. "We will never forget."
Citizens and soldiers alike joined together to pay their respects.
Sixty-three Fort Carson soldiers died in the war in Afghanistan, and an additional 257 lost their lives in the Iraq war.
