A suspicious barn fire killed eight horses near Commerce City.
Commerce police spokesman Lt. Dennis Moon says the barn was engulfed in flames when the South Adams County Fire Department arrived Sunday afternoon.
He says the horses and several chickens were killed, but a number of other animals escaped the flames. Authorities are investigating the cause of the blaze but say they suspect it was deliberately set.
Moon says a number of people were in the vicinity of the privately owned barn where people board animals.
