A fraternity whose Boulder chapter lost its charter after an alcohol poisoning death at the University of Colorado plans to return to campus this winter for recruiting.

National Chi Psi leaders revoked the Boulder charter after freshman Gordie Bailey died in 2004. He suffered alcohol poisoning in a ritual for pledges.

Fraternities at CU now operate without being officially recognized by the university. Fraternities have still flourished though, and the independent CU Interfraternity Council has approved a request from Chi Psi to establish an interest group next spring.

That would let Chi Psi evaluate whether there's enough interest to re-establish a presence in Boulder.
