THORNTON, Colo. (AP) - Thornton police say five people are hurt after a collision between a car and a police officer's vehicle.
The crash happened shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday.
Police say the officer was heading west on East 100th Avenue when a northbound Plymouth Neon allegedly failed to stop at a flashing red traffic signal and collided with the police car.
A 24-year-old man driving the Neon, a 32-year-old man riding in the Neon and the officer were taken to hospitals with serious injuries.
A 31-year-old woman and 22-year-old man whom the officer was transporting in his vehicle as a courtesy also were injured. Police say the woman was taken to a hospital in critical condition, and the man had minor injuries.
