Four children are dead in an early morning fire in a rural mobile home in Kentucky that also killed one adult.

State Fire Marshal spokeswoman Ricki Gardenhire says 14 people were inside when the fire broke out around 3:30 a.m. The mobile home is in Sulphur Well, a rural community about 100 miles south of Louisville.

Gardenhire says the children were ages 1, 2, and 3 and a fourth child was 11 or 12.

Seven others in the home were taken to a hospital in Glasgow with non life-threatening injuries. Two more were airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital. Their conditions were not known Wednesday morning.

Gardenhire says Kentucky State Police arson investigators were at the scene.
