Heavy rains caused mudslides and flooding in Japan, forcing the evacuation of 300,000 residents.

Japan's meteorological agency said Thursday that more torrential rain was expected to batter Japan.

Fire and rescue workers continued to put up sandbags in the hope it will divert water and prevent further damage.
