A wildfire is burning in the central Colorado mountains, west of Fraser, has grown to 530 acres.

The fire was reported Sunday afternoon and residents have been warned to get ready in case evacuations are needed. Right now the fire isn't threatening those homes.

Rocky Mountain Area Coordination Center spokesman Steve Segin said the fire is burning in an area that has trees that have been killed by pine beetles. The dead trees are at risk of falling and pose a danger to firefighters.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Hot, dry weather continues to raise the risk of fires in Colorado.

In Moffat County, the Craig Daily Press reports authorities are investigating two small fires that broke out over the weekend.
