Three suspects, accused of stealing copper wire from area utility poles in Colorado Springs, are under arrest.

The Colorado Springs Police Department IMPACT Team executed 7 search warrants on 3 properties and 4 vehicles after a six-month investigation. Additional arrests are anticipated.

The suspects are believed to have taken 6,000 pounds of copper wire with the replacement cost to replace the property estimated to be around $500,000.

The police department says that metal theft in 2011 is estimated to be around $2 million dollars, not including labor to replace the stolen property.
