27-year-old killed in motorcycle accident

Cañon City police say a 27-year-old man has died after a motorcycle accident Saturday afternoon.

Police say 27-year-old Robert Stewart was riding a 2003 Honda motorcycle; witnesses told police Stewart was riding up and down N. 5th St. When Stewart was near Meadowland Way witnesses told police Stewart was passing a vehicle and hit a parked car. Police say speed and alcohol may have been factors.

Stewart was taken to St. Thomas More Hospital in Cañon City where he was later pronounced dead.

Police say no helmet was found at the scene where Stewart crashed.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
