20 alpacas killed in Colorado barn fire

About 20 alpacas died in a weekend barn fire in Erie, while a group of volunteer firefighters held a holiday party just a couple miles away.

The Saturday night blaze interrupted the party for the Mountain View Fire Protection District just before 7 p.m.

Just as the firefighters arrived, the barn collapsed. The cause of the fire wasn't immediately known. Firefighter Jesse Hodgson said some alpacas were rescued from the burning barn, but about 20 died.
