2 National Guardsmen killed in accident

Two memmbers of the National Guard were killed in an accident on Monday. Robert Orta, 37, is from Pueblo West. Arnold Harp, 32, was from Colorado Springs. They were both stationed in Alamosa.

State troopers say it happened on Highway 160, in Costilla County, about 17 miles east of Fort Garland. Troopers say Orta was passing a truck pulling a trailer. He tried to pass the it, lost control, and hit the trailer.

Orta's Dodge Durango spun into the other lane, and was hit by a semi. State patrol believes icy roads, and speed led to that crash. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. The accident remains under investigation.
