2 doctors accused in deaths ask for hearing change

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) - Two doctors accused in four deaths due to the overprescribing of painkillers are asking a federal judge to move their next court hearings from Grand Junction to Denver because it would be more convenient.
The attorney for Dr. Sam Jahani says it would be less expensive and time consuming for his client to travel from Texas to Denver than it would be to go to Grand Junction. Jahani is free on $100,000 after his arrest in Texas.
The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel reports that the attorney for Dr. Eric Peper filed a similar motion as Jahani's lawyer on Friday. Peper was arrested in Florida. Prosecutors say the doctors operated clinics in western Colorado, including Grand Junction. They face dozens of charges, including dispensing controlled substances resulting in death. A judge has not ruled on the motions.
