DENVER (AP) - A $1 million bond has been set for a man accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a Denver girl earlier this month.
Twenty-seven-year-old Bret Lee Luckett Thompson appeared in a Denver courtroom Saturday morning on charges including felony second-degree kidnapping and felony sexual assault on a child.
He is suspected of abducting the 8-year-old girl June 2 from an alley where she was playing. The girl was found later that day at a gas station. Thompson was arrested June 13 in North Brunswick, N.J.
Thompson declined an interview with KUSA-TV in Denver after the station said it would not pay for the interview. The station reports that Thompson told the station to return if the interview policy changes because, he said, "I'm not going anywhere for a long time."
