Over 2,500 volunteers shoveled, bagged and loaded 150 tons of sand for "Sandbag Saturday" in the Mountain Shadows community.
Rain is forecasted next week and a heavy downpour means troubles for those homeowners living near the Waldo Canyon burn scar. The depleted vegetation and soil creates an increase risk of flash flooding in the area.
To prevent run-off from destroying homes, sandbags were distributed and placed around homes that could potentially be threatened by flooding.
