John McCain has been spending the day campaigning in Pennsylvania. He's then heading to Ohio. The Arizona senator had planned to go to Louisiana but was forced to cancel the trip due to severe weather. There had been speculation that he would meet with a potential vice presidential pick, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal.
McCain has been discussing topics ranging from oil prices to the Iraq war. He said President Bush deserves credit for the recent drop in oil prices, because he lifted the presidential ban on offshore drilling. A congressional ban remains in place, but McCain
says Bush's action had a psychological effect.
On other subjects today, McCain said that, if elected, he'd hold a weekly news conference.
He also suggests he'd regularly submit to questioning before the House speaker and minority leader. McCain compared it to when "the British prime minister goes before Parliament and answers some pretty interesting questions." McCain said it sounds like "fun."
