Monument neighborhood gets in the Halloween spirit

''Cash for Candy'' to help soldiers

Local dentists are offering a dollar for every pound of candy returned to their offices. The candy will then be paired with other items to make Halloween packages for soldiers. One such office is Rocky Mountain Pediatric Dentistry at Powers and Woodmen. Dentists say that most kids don't need all the sweets they get during trick or treat, and this helps the troops as well.

Neighbors witnessed argument moments before police standoff

A seven-hour standoff in northeast Colorado Springs ended Thursday night with one man dead. News 5 crews were there talking to neighbors who witnessed an argument between the deceased homeowner and young man believed to be his son just minutes before the man barricaded himself in his house.
