Athletes and fans in Beijing for the Olympics are likely to run into a big time language barrier. But there is a way to help people understand each other and all you need is a cell phone. And it's really that simple, using your cell phone and software fittingly called Babel to translate your English phrases.
Jajah make the software. CEO Trevor Healy explains how it works, "It's a combination of three technologies: voice over ip technology, real time translation technology, and then voice recognition technology."
It's not perfect yet but it's new. "I spoke this morning to one of the Irish athletes who said the taxi drivers in Beijing don't understand Olympic Village so there's definitely an immediate need in the market," said Healy.
And all you need is your cell phone, to make the world a smaller place.
