Steps to speed cleaning your windows

It's spring time, let's start cleaning! The Good Housekeeping Institute has 3 quick ways to clean your windows.
The first tip is to start with the dirt. "You probably want to go straight for the glass, but you shouldn't. Clean any of the dirt that's around the window sill with a small dust brush. You want to clean the dirt first so it doesn't get trapped on your cloth or get onto your windows when you are cleaning them," says products tester Christina Peterson.
Step two is to get grime off the screens. "If you leave your screens in year-round, run your vacuum's dusting brush attachment over them. The fastest way is to go side to side and top to bottom," says Peterson.
Step 3 is to make the glass gleam. Good Housekeeping just tested an assortment of window cleaners and wipes to find out which works best.
"We tested a homemade solution, six window cleaner sprays, three wipes, and four cleaning tools. Using a mixture of dirt and oil, we applied it to our glass panel and we then rated each of their performance based on their cleaning and streaking, cleaning speed, ease of use, cost and linting," says Peterson.
The Hope's Perfect Glass with a microfiber cloth offered the best results. "There weren't any streaks or lint left behind on our window," says Peterson. The perfect glass and cloth combination was much easier than the squeegee.
