Many people are downsizing when it comes to summer travel plans. Instead of flying somewhere, they're driving and instead of driving far, they are staying close to home.

Some hotels are offering discounts to help get people in their rooms this summer.

"There are bed and breakfasts and mom and pop places that are offering gas cards," John Danneman, AAA explained.
