Mammograms are vitally important, but a procedure most women dread. Now, an x-ray technician is doing her part to make the procedure a little easier.
"If you do it in the front, then the whole front of you hangs out, if you turn it around, the whole backside is hanging out," complained breast cancer patient Peggy McKay.
It's a complaint long time x-ray tech Tam Nguyen has heard before. So, Tam decided to make custom mammogram gowns, bright pink, in honor of breast cancer patients like Peggy. The gowns velcro in the front and with patches over the chest area, aren't embarassingly shear like the old ones. "It's truly one size fits all. Every patient can fit easily into that gown," said Nguyen.
At first Tam only made 14, but the gowns were so popular, patients started refusing to wear anything else. Now, there are enough for everyone. It's a simple solution that's making a big difference.
