D-11 may close two elementary schools

School District 11 in Colorado Springs is seeking public input on a proposal to close Longfellow and Pike elementary schools at the end of the school year.
Longfellow is being considered for several new uses including housing the Colorado Springs Children's Chorale, the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony, D-11 adult education program, or the Globe Charter School.
If PIke Elementary closes, the Bijou School would move into that building.
Community members and parents are encouraged to attend a meeting at Longfellow Elementary tonight at 5 p.m. A community meeting at Pike Elementary will be held April 28 at 6 pm. The school board will hold a public hearing on April 23 regarding the closing of both schools. It gets underway at 7:30.
