The "ready" portion of "ready or not" is the plan of the many communities surrounding Fort Carson. Hundreds of people gathered at a town hall meeting of sorts to address how to prepare for the more than thirty-thousand people that will be coming to Southern Colorado because of the additional soldiers being added to the Mountain Post.
The influx will have a positive economic impact, but there are also a wide range of growth issues that need to be addressed. The meeting was to give an update on preparation and to offer an opportunity to bring up unidentified issues that need to be resolved.
Major General Mark Graham, Fort Carson’s Commander says, “the more folks downtown can understand Army's culture and families and their needs, the better they'll be able to prepare.”
It's estimated thirty percent of the new soldiers will live on post while the rest will move into local communities.
