A tiny railroad station provided refuge for a group of snowmobilers who were missing for three days in a snowstorm in the Colorado mountains. All six people have been rescued safely.
The six snowmobilers from New Mexico ran out of gas on Friday, just as a storm closed in on them. The National Weather Service reports that as much as 4 feet of snow
fell in the area since Friday. The group took shelter in a tiny building at Ossier Station, a stop on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad just north of the Colorado/New Mexico border.
They carried a cell phone in case of emergency, but couldn't get a signal at Ossier Station. They remained hunkered down in the storm throughout the weekend.
Rescuers report that the two families were cold and hungry, but otherwise OK.
