Investigators say they've found more human bones west of Pueblo. A cadaver dog found a leg bone and other bone fragments Friday morning on the 200 block of Sunset Ln. The discovery was made not far from where a dog brought home a human jawbone to her owner on December 29th.
Neighbors reacted to the bizarre discovery. "I'm kind of freaked out. I got my kids living here you know. I'm kind of scared, you know." said Edie Rodriguez, who lives next door.
Rodriguez and other neighbors say a man who rented the trailer for 11 years, moved out about two months ago.
Authorities have been searching the neighborhood west of City Park for several days. They were trying to figure out where a golden retriever mix named Jasmine found a jaw bone over the weekend. Wendie Arnold is Jasmine's owner. News First asked Arnold what she thought when her dog brought home the bone. "Just surprised, I was like oh there's a bone, now what do I do?" Arnold said.
Arnold is a former dental assistant. She says she knew right away that what Jasmine brought home-- and what authorities would later confirm-- is that the bone was in fact human. "It was a grayish green color. No teeth in it," Arnold said.
Now the discovery of more skeletal remains is raising suspicions in this rural Pueblo County neighborhood. "That adds a little more element to it, a little scarier," said Arnold.
"Of course finding human remains underneath a mobile home, obviously is suspicious, but at this point it would be premature to say we have a crime even," said Charlene Graham with the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff deputies say they only found a partial skeleton under the home and are still looking for more bones.
