A Colorado Springs elementary school is closing its doors. The decision was made late Monday night by the Cheyenne Mountain School board. They voted unanimously to close Canon Elementary School.
The board made the decision after taking public comment on the matter one last time. Canon's enrollment has dropped, which means a possible loss of revenue and state funding in District 12.
The board hopes to move Canon students to nearby schools and there has not been a decision made on what to do with the Canon site.
