An email is circulating, warning people of a deadly gang initation in Fountain, but police say, don't believe everything you read.

The email warns drivers that, as part of a gang initiation, members of MS-13 will bump a car in Fountain this week.  When the driver gets out, gang members will start shooting.

That email's been circulating the Front Range.  Fountain police say they've received at least 300 calls.  Some people are worried they could become a victim.  Police say the original tip came from a Fort Carson soldier this week.  She told them about the initiation, but didn't have any other information.

Police say there isn't any record of any ms-13 gang members in El Paso County.  If you go to snopes.com, it dispels this email as a hoax.  This same gang initiation has been mentioned in several other states.

Sgt. Jess Freeman with Fountain Police says, "We're not taking it as a credible threat. We just don't feel like we have enough information to take it that far."

What they are worried about, is a copycat.  Someone who may see these emails, and decide to do it.  They are asking people to be vigilant.

If something similar to this happens to you, they're asking you to call police, or go to the closest police station.
