Bill Hybl is the new Chairman of the U.S. Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy. He was sworn in earlier this week by Vice President Dick Cheney in Washington, D.C.
Hybl heads El Pomar Foundation.
The U.S. Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy is a seven-member bipartisan panel created by Congress and appointed by the President to provide oversight of U.S. government activities intended to understand, inform and influence foreign publics. Hybl’s previously served on the commission from 1990-1997, after being appointed twice by President George H.W. Bush and once by President Bill Clinton. During that period he served four years as the Commission’s Vice Chairman.
“I look forward to rejoining the Commission,” said Hybl. “I would like to thank the President for the nomination and the Senate for the confirmation.”
For the past 35 years Hybl has served as Chairman and CEO of El Pomar, one of the largest and oldest private charitable foundations in the Rocky Mountain West. He is also a member of the International Relations Commission of the International Olympic Committee, Chairman and CEO of the U.S. Olympic Foundation and was a representative to the 56th General Assembly of the United Nations.
