It's been a troubling and tragic 16 months for the largest church in Colorado Springs, but now attendance and cash are back up.
New Life Church released its financial statement for 2007. It shows a 1.4 million dollar cash balance for the year, an increase of $800,000 from 2006. Senior Pastor Brady Boyd also says attendance is up 1500 and giving is up 15 percent.
"When a church goes through something like this and a new pastor comes in and they watch him for awhile," he said. "If he seems trustworthy, their money is an indicator of their trust."
New Life laid off more than 40 people in 2006. Boyd says they added about 7 in 2007, and plan to hire even more in 2008.
